Tips On Conservation Of Water

TIPS TO SAVE WATER - GO GREEN

Did you know this:-

When a tap is open for one minute. We waste 12 liters of Water.
When we throw yesterday’s stored water (say even 2 buckets), we waste 40 liters of water
When we wash our hand with tap open , we waste 12 liters of water every time
When we brush for 5 minutes with tap open, we waste 60 liters of water.
When we shave with tap open for 10 minutes, we waste 120 liters of water.
When we wash car with flowing pipe water, we waste 150 liters of water
When we bath for 15 minutes with continuous shower on, we waste 180 liters of water
When we bath using bath tub, we waste more than 500 liters of water.
Thousand of liters of water get wasted through the overflowing tank of building.

So, how much water do we waste every day? May be more than 100 Lit/Per Person Can we afford it? Remember water is limited? Please close every open tap you see.

Water Conservation at Individual Level

Individual Checklist:-

Use small size glasses for drinking water
Make Habit of serving glass & jug for a group of people.
Left out drinking water in glasses should be used for watering the plants. Water used for
washing vegetable, grains is good for plants.
‘Yesterdays’ water is not state. It is good for plants.
Never open the taps completely, open them half or three forth
Plastic nozzle in the tap reduces water consumption considerably.
Make a habit of using mug & bucket for brushing, bathing, washing utensils & cars. (Showers if used, shall be closed while applying soap)
In rural area one full family will meet its daily or even weekly demand by the water consumed in one bath tub.
Make a habit of utilizing full capacity of washing machine for every lot. Washing two lots together saves 40% water when semi automatic washing machines are used.
Washing machine wash water can be refused for rinsing dirty clothes, utensils, floors & flushing.
Dual type flushing cisterns 5/10 lit. to be provided in toilets or two filled up plastic ‘Mineral water bottle’ to be places in the existing flushing tank to reduce its capacity.
Balconies & common passages can just be swabbed instead of washing them by pouring lot of water.
Promptly repair leaking water taps, pipelines, prevent overflowing of tanks. Ball cocks (flow control floats) in tanks are a must or adopt pump with level switch arrangement
Avoid unnecessary paving.
